The Kauravas are the main antagonists in the epic and represent various aspects of “Evil/Adharma”.

Dhritarashtra and Gandhari’s 100 sons and one daughter were born in a peculiar way. Gandhari gave birth, after a hard and lengthy pregnancy, to a large ball of flesh. With the help of sage Vyasa, this ball was divided into a hundred parts and each part was put in a Clay jar.
